Health and Safety Services

We provide various Health and Safety services to help your business and workplace remain in compliance with the current legislation and regulations.

Below is a full list of our services and some expansion on what these services include.

Health and Safety Policies:

By Law most  businesses or companies should have a Health and Safety Policy in place. This means that failure to do so could result in detrimental consequences as an employer.

At Prosafe we can help design bespoke policies covering the key areas of Health and Safety.

Our service will factor in the number and type of employees you have and the potential risk factors your business or company could have. Breaking down your policy into three key areas:

  • Statement of Intent - This is your general policy on Health and Safety in the workplace. Included in this will be your commitment to Health & Safety along with your aims. This should be checked and signed regularly by a senior member of the business to make sure it is kept in line with your company.
  • Responsibilities for Health and Safety - A list of employees who are responsible for elements of your H&S policy and which parts of the policy they have been appointed to.
  • Arrangements for Health and Safety - A more detailed description of the practices you have in place at the business. These could include but not limited to; completing regular risk assessments, providing training to staff members or the training provided to new staff members right through to completing demonstrations of how any specialist Health and Safety equipment is operated.

If your business employs five or more in the team then a Health and Safety Policy must be in a written document. However if you have fewer than five you may not need to write it down. We advise all business owners to have a clear written policy more as a precautionary measure. All policies must be shared with staff and any changes made must be notified.

Legal Compliance:

As an employer you need to ensure that you are in compliance with the law, especially when it comes to Health and Safety in the workplace.

Our team can help provide you with clear and transparent advice on what each of these legislations mean, offering guidance on how to keep your business safe from any legal complications.

All businesses and companies need to adhere to the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974.

Help with CHAS, Safe Contractor and more:

CHAS is the The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme. The scheme was established in 1997 by experienced Health and Safety professionals to improve standards across the UK.

The aims of the legislation are:

  • To simplify Health and Safety contractor assessments by standardising requirements.
  • To help companies avoid undergoing Health and Safety assessments for every job.

We can help provide guidance on this scheme and help your business set up the systems required to comply with the CHAS guidelines.

Prosafe can provide more information on Safe Contractor and other Health and Safety schemes.

Help with Customers’ Pre Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ’s):

Here at Prosafe we can help you when it comes to answering any pre qualification questionnaire (PQQ) you receive. We understand how important these questionnaires are, not only to the potential customer looking for a supplier but also to the company offering the service.

Health & Safety, and more importantly your practices within your business can be a weighted factor towards any final decision to award the contract. We’ve helped clients for many years to prepare their responses and could do the same for you.

Method Statements and Safe Working Procedures:

When it comes to employees carrying out their day to day activities it is good practice to prepare working Method Statements and Safe Working Procedures.

As an employer it is your responsibility to compile the documents that outline the way a work task or process should be carried out. It is important in these documents to highlight any hazards that could be involved and to provide a step by step guide on how to get the job done safely and in compliance with Health and Safety legislation and Safe Working Practices.

Risk Assessments , Method Statements and Safe Working Procedures should be prepared before work starts. These Risk Assessments will help determine the level of risk that come with the tasks of a given job. This way control measures are put in place to prevent illness or injury whilst in the workplace.

Here at Prosafe we can help you compile these documents and give you guidance.

Health and Safety Training:

Most Health and Safety policies and regulations require business and company owners to train appointed members of the team in Health and Safety.

We offer a range of standard and bespoke training courses, designed to provide awareness of Health and Safety.

We also provide skill based courses so that members of staff can be trained to handle a crisis should one arise. All our courses are designed for learning in a classroom style, in-house bespoke training or online e-learning.

Dust and Chemical Measurements:

When it comes to the workplace it is important to monitor the quality of the air indoors. So here at Prosafe we can provide a full dust measurement helping identify the number of airborne particles present within your working environment.

The same can be said for any chemicals handled by employees. We can help measure these chemicals to help keep you within compliance of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).

Failure to measure these can result in poor health or even long term illnesses for your staff. Potential illnesses and ailments could include:

  • Sneezing/stuffy/runny noses
  • Itchy/red eyes
  • Headaches
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea
  • Fevers
  • Coughs
  • Shortness of breath
  • Asthma
  • Dermatitis
  • Chemical Burns
  • Bronchitis
  • Pneumonia
  • Cancer

Protect your employees from developing any of these health concerns by allowing us to come and measure the dust in the air and chemicals that are used.

Medicals:

Another service we can provide for your business is medicals. As business owners it is your responsibility to provide medical checks to any employees that might be working with hazardous materials or are driving vehicles.

Medicals are there to provide reassurance to both you and your employees that they are fit and well enough to carry out the day to day tasks at work. Any employees that do not meet the physical and mental wellbeing requirements could leave you liable and your employees at risk of injuring themselves or others.

Risk Assessments:

Here at Prosafe we can provide full Risk Assessments for your organisation. Our assessments include:

  • General Hazards
  • Fire Assessment
  • Manual Handling
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
